2009 Secor Scholar

Findlay, OH- Spencer M. Bruce, a senior at Findlay High School , has been selected as the 2009 United Way Secor Scholar. The $2,000 renewable Secor Scholarship was established as a memorial to the generosity of the Steven and Doris Secor bequest.  It is awarded to a high school senior or high school graduate living in Findlay or Hancock County who plans to attend an accredited institution of higher learning to pursue any undergraduate field of study, full time in the subsequent academic year.  The candidate must exhibit a strong commitment to academic studies as well as volunteer and extracurricular involvement.

Davidson, the son of Gary and Susan Davidson, was selected because of his sense of civic duty. Some of Davidson’s volunteer work includes fund raising for the purchase of mosquito nets and the second of two wells in Africa . As the current president of Junior Statesmen of America, he has also taken on a goal to raise funds for a secondary school in Africa .  Davidson intends on studying political science, communications and law.
